This project makes me happy and gets me excited for spring and anxious to get back outside in my garden (where the photos were taken). I created this for Me & My BIG Ideas and it appears in the current issue of Hobby Lobby's Stamping, Stationery, and Scrapbooking magazine. I love Mambi's new mixed media type papers and had fun incorporating them on this inexpensive wooden birdhouse.
I started by lightly sanding the birdhouse and then painting the whole thing a nice, bright yellow. I wanted a color that could hold its own against all the different patterned papers.
Die cut paper and dimensional stickers were layered to create the banner design on the front.
I thought Mambi's glittered chipboard flourish stickers made a fun accent along the edges of the roof.
This robin sticker seemed like just the thing to place on the paper "perch".
A decorative border punch helped create the trim along the bottom edges of the roof.
The back roof has a layered die cut and sticker medallion as well.
I used stickers to embellish the back - foam adhesive adds a bit of dimension under the butterfly's wing.
Here is a better look at the paper I used on the other side. I love the butterfly images sprinkled throughout the collection.
Thanks so much for spending a few minutes with me today. Hope you are enjoying the weekend!
