Hey there! Are you staying warm? We have had a bit of a heat wave here in Boston with temps in the 40's and 50's... impossible to convince my boys that they need a jacket as they think spring has arrived. But I'm sure we haven't seen the last of winter yet and before we know it the ground will be covered in snow again.
Seems like I know an awful lot of people with birthdays in the winter so I thought I'd share this card today. The penguin stamps and dies are from Papertrey Ink - I just love those little penguins and having a die that coordinates with the stamp makes this card come together much more quickly than if I had used a stamping and masking technique.
The background paper and party hat stamp are from Karen Foster Design. The coloring was done using Copic markers. I used the Warm Grey #2 marker to give a light outline around the belly. It is hard to see in the photo, but the subtle shading adds a lot of dimension to the image.
Another detail that is hard to capture in a photo is the glitter on the snowman. I sprayed a piece of white felt with Glitter Dust spray before cutting it using another die from Papertrey Ink. Instead of a stamp, I cut a triangle for his hat out of white cardstock and covered it with a scrap of striped tissue paper. The mini pom-poms are from the craft store.
Even though this card has a bit of dimension, everything is soft enough to go through the mail - to be safe, I'd recommend a padded envelope though.
Thanks so much for visiting today. I hope you are enjoying the new year!
