I'm welcoming June with two blog posts today - one here and one on the Therm O Web blog - both feature a brand new template set that is just coming on the market. If you have been paper crafting for any length of time, chances are good that you own a Kreate-a-lope - the template system for creating custom envelopes out of any paper. Their creators have developed some new templates that are sized to work perfectly with 12x12 paper and come in a variety of fun shapes and sizes.
First up is a versatile Dress Bag-Box Template that I used to create a one-of-a-kind gift bag for a teddy bear.
Although this sample is definitely more on the girly/dress side of things, this template is perfect for boy themed projects... think custom "team shirt" gift bags in team colors... or baby themed "onesie" bags... lots of great uses for this shape.
To get started, cut out the front and back pieces using the template. Note that they are identical except for the extra side pieces on the bottom (simply leave them off one piece when tracing). Double sided paper works really well for this.
Decorate the front of the bag and then adhere the bottoms together, overlapping the two bottom sections as shown.
Insert ribbon handles (if desired) and adhere the side flaps in place to complete assembly.
Told you it was easy.
In fashion, it's all about the details... I used a scalloped oval punch to create the collar and matching floss in the button...
I glued eyelet trim along the edges of the apron and along the top of the pocket... the pocket is a great place to tuck another little surprise... gift card, tickets, money...
Don't you think it would be a lot more fun to get a gift in a bag like this?
On the Therm O Web blog, I'm sharing more about a project I created using the new Cake Box template - these are sized just right for party or shower favors. Stop by to check it out and leave a comment letting me know what you think.
Hope your summer is off to a fabulous start! I'll be back next week with a few more samples.
I love it. That dress gift bag is so sweet. I love all the detail that you used. Thanks for sharing.
